Investor set to make offer for BenQ Mobile - paper

FRANKFURT, Dec 29 (Reuters) - The German unit of mobile phone maker BenQ Mobile (2352.TW: Quote, Profile, Research), which filed for insolvency in August, has found an investor willing to buy at least part of the business, Germany's Neue Ruhr/Neue Rhein-Zeitung reported.

The newspaper quoted BenQ Mobile's works council chief on Friday as saying that two parties were seriously interested in buying the business, and that one was ready to make an offer.

"At least one of the two will definitely present an offer on Jan. 2," Michael Leucker told the newspaper. He said both were German firms who also had offices in the United States.
A spokeswoman for BenQ Mobile's insolvency administrator in Germany said: "We are still negotiating with several investors. That's the current situation."

A spokesman for trade union IG Metall told Reuters the potential buyer was not from the telecoms industry. "It's a pure business investor who believes he's in a position to raise the necessary money."
The spokesman said the investor had said he wanted to continue the production of mobile phones and would rehire 700-800 of BenQ Mobile's 3,000 former staff in Germany.

The former BenQ Mobile employees will from Jan. 1 belong to a transfer firm set up by German industrial conglomerate Siemens (SIEGn.DE: Quote, Profile, Research), which gave away the loss-making mobile phones business to Taiwanese technology group BenQ in 2005.

A takeover of the whole business in its current form is not realistic, the IG Metall spokesman said. "A classic rescue is no longer in sight," he said.

The investor would not have any obligation to former employees of BenQ Mobile or to suppliers, as the offer would be made at the start of next year, when the business officially goes into insolvency.
据德国《新莱茵报》报道，今年8月刚刚申请破产的明基德国手机部门目前正在洽谈出售，已有两家投资人提出了收购意向，其中一家准备提交报价。

　　明基移动工会负责人麦克尔·卢克(Michael Leucker)周五表示，至少有一家投资人确定会在1月2日提出报价，他还透露，两家投资方都是在美国有分部的德国公司。

　　明基移动破产事务负责人的发言人对此消息予以了证实，他表示，“目前我们正在与多家投资人谈判。”

　　德国工会组织IG Metall发言人表示，潜在买家并非来自电信业，“(它)纯粹是在进行商业投资。”该发言人还表示，这名买家希望明基德国手机部门继续生产手机，而且有意重新雇用该部门裁掉的3千名西门子前员工。

　　2005年，西门子将亏损严重的手机部门转手给了台湾明基，但这个烫手山芋事后被证明不仅无法扭亏，还拖累了明基的整体业务，1年多时间导致明基亏损超过8亿欧元，市值蒸发40%。迫于股东压力，明基不得不宣布，停止向德国手机公司注资，这家子公司将申请破产保护。

　　IG Metall发言人认为，按照目前的形式，完全接管德国手机部门并不现实。

　　由于收购竞价可能在明年初明基德国手机部门正式宣布破产后进行，收购方不用承担对该部门员工获供应商的任何责任。

我决定要把SIEMENS LOGO的外壳拆下来换到现在的BenQ.SIEMENS的EL71上面去，不然跟大家都一样～～不爽～～～
