西门子全球总裁柯菲德博士昨天已经向大家介绍了有关通信集团（Com）的重要战略举措。

l          诺基亚的网络设备业务和西门子的运营商相关的移动和固网业务及网络服务将合并成立一家名为“诺基亚—西门子通信网络”的新公司，双方各占50%的股份。

l          对于企业网络业务，我们正在与有实力的合作伙伴进行接洽，以期建立一个在财务和技术上都具有强大竞争力的实体，争取赢得该行业的领袖地位。我们将致力于确保这一业务的光明未来，并将在稍后阶段与大家沟通有关细节。

l          我们的无线模块业务将于2006年10月1日并入自动化与驱动集团（A&D），以进一步壮大我们的机对机通信业务。

通过与诺基亚的合作，我们将创建一个新的通信行业领导者，不仅在固网、移动网络融合领域以及相关运营商服务领域拥有强大的产品组合，还拥有在行业竞争中制胜的全球规模优势。新成立的合资公司将提供世界一流的端到端解决方案，满足客户的需求，为其创造价值。

Nokia and Siemens to merge their communications service provider businesses

Dear Colleagues

Dr. Klaus Kleinfeld, President and CEO of Siemens world-wide, already informed you yesterday about important strategic changes in our Communications (Com) Group:

l          A new company “Nokia Siemens Networks” will be formed as 50-50 joint venture consisting of Nokia’s networks business and Siemens carrier-related operations for fixed and mobile networks as well as services.

l          For our Enterprise Networks division, negotiations with strong players are on-going to help create an organization with the financial strength and technological breadth to compete successfully with the dominant industry leader in all markets. We are committed to ensure a bright future of this business, and will communicate further details in due course.

l          The Wireless Module division will be transferred to our Automation & Drives (A&D) Group as of October 1, 2006 to further strengthen our machine-to-machine controls and communication business.

Through our partnership with Nokia, we have created a new leader in the telecoms industry, which not only has a powerful portfolio in fixed, mobile and convergence solutions as well as related carrier services, but also has the global scale to win in the consolidating telecoms industry. This will enable the new company to provide world-class, end-to-end solutions that will truly delight our customers and deliver value to them.

This is also true for us here in China. We are in a very early stage and many of the details about the new company are not yet available. The new company is expected to start operations by the beginning of 2007, subject to regulatory approval. In the next weeks and months, we will assess the consequences on our local operations in China, and possible adjustments we may need to make. I ask for the full support of everybody involved in making this partnership work, as it is crucial to reaching our ambitious growth and profitability targets and securing the successful future of our communications business and opportunities for our employees.

I am sure that this partnership will bring benefits to you - our employees – as well as our customers and shareholders. It is a great opportunity to reach our goal to become a leading player in the global telecoms market and effectively compete against both other multinational as well as the upcoming local competitors.
