Ok for the first time I have opened my phone, and can confirm to everyone who doesn't believe that the SL45 is GPRS compatible that they are wrong! It is GPRS class 12 compatible, Siemens never enabled it because if SL45 had GPRS then there would be no point in S45, and they wanted more profit. These are the Infineon chips inside:

PMB6850/E-GOLD V1

Here are pics to prove it, I couldn't really get better ones than this, u can just about read what it says on the chip.

This shows us all the parts of the SL45 when it is taken apart:

This shows the main E-Gold chip. On the chip it has the Infineon logo and says 'PMB 6850 E'

This shows the dual band GSM chip, it has the Infineon logo and says on the chip '6250 SMARTI'

Also it is nothing to do with the processor because these 2 chips work together, and the processor is located on the E Gold chip - so the processor has to be fast enough. Infineon wouldn't make an onboard processor if it wasn't fast enough for all the other functions that the chip supports!

硬件要软件支持.
6688没有编写相关的软件,所以,6688不能用GPRS.

对于国外高手，软件不是个问题。以前大家都说硬件不支持。
我的看法是，虽然芯片支持，但是就怕小8主板上的线路设计不支持，从而可说硬件不支持GPRS。

高什么手，多半是末天看到了芯片的说明书，看到上面有支持gprs的片言只语而已。能不能实现，还要看很多东西的。

很多东西就是在怀疑声中实现的，要我是设计师，芯片有的功能我一定会在电路上考虑，留下接口，时机成熟就变一下系统就出来了。

芯片支持还要设计到很多方面的配合，希望6688的设计已经是配合好的，只是在软件和最终的接入上做了屏蔽。我始终觉得工程模式里的“no GPRS support”有点诡异。
